Life Goes On | To Those Who Care

In other news, I'm getting my new computer. Soon.
It will be an Intel Core i5, in simple terms. Not going into detail unless you want to hear. Other parts aren't certain yet.

Might submit some art soon.

=======================================================

***IF YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO READ THIS SCROLL DOWN FOR A QUICK SUMMARY***

deviantART hasn't been as interesting as it used to be, and to be honest, I don't think it ever was. I've been lazy about replying, but not as much about leaving comments. I'm sure you've noticed my lack of activity. I've changed up my page and put most of my art in storage. Most of it wasn't worth displaying anyway.

I guess you can say I'm tired of the Sonic series. Really, there's nothing I like about it anymore. Not even the art style. I can't call it art block, I've been drawing like a maniac, but no Sonic. The only thing I can say I like about the series in general is the music, and even then, most of the time it's not that great.

I'm not leaving. I'll still be here. If you need to ask me any questions, note me or comment or something... I feel like I used to be something of an attention whore, which may or may not be true. Sorry for all the drama, really.

I'm never going to do those silly avatar requests, as you can guess. I'm either lazy or don't want to waste my time with something I don't enjoy.

I won't be all too active here. But you can still talk to me:

If you still care about me after reading all this, I would appreciate feedback from you on HIT, specifically on this. Yeah, you have to join to comment, but it's free. I don't care if you never use the site again, but I would still greatly enjoy your feedback.

I've enjoyed meeting all of these interesting people here, some of you I even know outside of this computer monitor. You've all been great, I mean it. Thanks for your time and support. I love you all.

***FOR ALL WHO WERE TOO LAZY TOO READ***
* Most deviations are in storage. If you want to see something, send me a message.
* I'm done with the Sonic series.
* I'm not going to finish Project Phear, even though I've put so much effort into it.
* I still draw, mostly animals, unique ones, like alien animals, etc...
* You can find me on Facebook and the Half-Life Improvement Team forums.
* I will still check my messages here periodically.
* I apologize for the drama.
* Please give me feedback on this.
* Don't get pissed because I called you lazy. I probably would have done the same.

Catch me later, I'll buy you a beer.

I was talking to my friend; he told me that I'd save $300+ since I have chosen to get an i5 rather than an i7. The biggest difference is that I'll need to buy more RAM, because the i5 uses dual channel rather than triple channel. Oh well. :D 4 GB should do it for me. Plus, with any extra I may save up, I can get a nice flat panel 22" monitor. Much better than the 15" CRT I'm currently using.

If I get an i7: $1200+
If I get an i5: $950

I have: $680

Only $270 to go! I'm on my way.

I'm sticking with the i5. It will be one badass gaming machine for at least the next four years. My cousin has a computer like it, and it's so fast, he has never seen it lag. Ever.

Well, I've finally found a nice budget for a computer: $1100-1300.
For those who care, I have about $680... I've been helping out a friend with some yardwork and busting my ass with chores at home. Hard to believe I only had $5 as of May 27. :D

Anywho, the processor I'm budgeting for is the Intel Core i5 -- it will be nice because it runs on Lynnfield architecture.

And I'll be getting a different type of motherboard than the X58, since I'm not getting an i7. There will be a special motherboard made specifically for the i5 coming out soon. At the moment I forget what it's called.

6 GB of DDR3 RAM. For those who want it in plain English, memory (RAM) uses channels to process your work. Mine is single channel (DDR) memory. I have 256 MB. 1,024 MB = 1 GB.
Triple Channel memory on a mega-fast processor like the i5 is neat. It's tough to strain the system. Say I have 50 Firefox Windows open, 2 Call of Duty 4s, and 5 iTunes windows open, all at once. With Triple Channel (DDR3) memory, once the first channel fills with data, it overflows to the second, and the third... but not many programs nowadays can put enough strain on a system to actually USE the third channel.

Video Card... Mine will have either 768 MB or 1 GB of memory. Remember, 1,024 MB = 1 GB. Most high-end games won't use nearly all of that memory. You will only need such a nice card if you're doing video or audio editing... or some advanced Photoshop techniques. (I will be doing all three). My current video card has 32 MB of memory, just enough to run Half-Life at a decent speed.

Hard Drive. I'm going for a 750 GB HDD (Hard Disk Drive). I'll be buying it from a friend for $55. My current one is labeled 40 GB, but actually holds ~37.5 GB.

Sorry to dump all that information on you.
I tried to explain it so you could understand.
I know most of you probably don't care enough to read this whole thing; I don't care, do whatever suits you :P

But I still love you all.
Have a nice day.

A True Task

Compare the textures (walls, floors, boxes, etc.) on [link] to [link]

The second one is undoubtedly better, right?

Hard to believe they both came from an engine finished in 1998, right?

Well, I'm crazy.
I'm going to learn to make textures.
Good ones.
And I'm going to overhaul it all: Half-Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, and Decay, and probably my mod, Serenity.

It's going to be epic.
And good.
If I can learn this stuff ...
If someone knows tutorials, link me up! I'd be glad to know.
But most of you aren't HL fans in any sense ._.
HOW IS STUFF LIKE THIS NOT AWESOME?! [link]

Like I said:
I'm crazy.

Each WAD (mass-texture file) will be split up into several sections; thousands at a time is unreal.

-laughs-
I'm crazy, right?

...

Good luck in your endavours.
